Looking for some quality time for yourself, your children, or friends away from screens, televisions and computers? Look no further than your local library.

The Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library recently announced the addition of nine board games to its game collection. All are available to check out and take home with a valid library card. Editions are also on hand to play while visiting the library at 680 Radcliffe St., Bristol.

New strategy games for the youngest audiences include Let’s Feed the Very Hungry Caterpillar, a game to gather fruit to feed the caterpillars; Mermaid Island (chosen as a Good Housekeeping Best Toy), in which mermaids defeat a sea witch; Pancake Pile-Up!, where players build a sequential stack of pancakes; Coder Bunnyz, where players code a robot bunny to eat a carrot; and Rooster Race, one similar to the childhood card game, War.

Older audiences will enjoy NMBR 9, a game requiring players to lay a solid foundation with strategically placed tiles to make the best display. Others include Code Master, in which players use an avatar and program logic to collect all the crystals and land at the portal; Azul, a game in which participants compete as artisans to decorate the Royal Palace of Dvora with Moorish tiles; Santorini, which requires players to climb a tower three stories high through tactical maneuvering; and Spell Smashers, a loot-collecting word game filled with monsters, coins, quests and trophies.
